James has been lecturing for the Institute of Chartered Accountants and the Institute of Taxation in Tax for more than ten years and has also set tax exams for both Institutes.
James has also been providing continual professional development courses for the Institute of Certified Public Accountants / The Institute of Chartered Accountants and the Institute of Taxation in Tax for 10 years also.
Declan McEvoy - IFAC
An AITI Chartered Tax Adviser (CTA) and Member of STEP-society of trust and estate practitioners, Declan McEvoy is Head of Tax for IFAC.
Declan has extensive experience and expertise in personal and corporate tax planning, estate and succession planning, tax-based investment and financial structuring for family and farm businesses.
A leading authority on farm taxation, Declan was co-author of ‘Farming in a Limited Company – is it right for you?’
Declan is also an Irish Tax Institute Registered Tax Consultant and frequently speaks at national seminars and client workshops for professional bodies, farm organisations, banks, farm groups.
Mairead Hennessy - Taxkey
Taxkey was founded by Mairéad Hennessy. She is passionate about delivering the highest quality tax advice in a practical, professional, timely and confidential manner.
Mairéad is a Chartered Tax Advisor (CTA AITI) and Fellow of Chartered Accountants Ireland (FCA). She holds a Bachelor of Business and Law (BBLS) from UCD and a Masters in Accounting (MAcc) from the Michael Smurfit School of Business.
Mairéad represents CCAB-I on TALC (indirect taxes), which is the main forum for making representations between the Irish Revenue and practitioners on tax administration in Ireland. The CCAB-I is the Consultative Committee of Accountancy Bodies of Ireland and is an umbrella group of the Irish accountancy profession.
She enjoys speaking regularly as a tax specialist at professional training conferences. Mairéad is also a frequent contributor of tax technical articles to the CPA’s Accountancy Plus journal and the LexisNexis Tolley Tax Books.
Aengus Burns - Grant Thornton
Aengus joined Grant Thornton in 2002 and is a partner in the Financial Services Advisory team based in Galway and Dublin. He has extensive Restructuring, Insolvency and Corporate Finance experience. He heads up the Corporate Simplification team at Grant Thornton and is responsible for Members’ Voluntary Liquidations of Special Purpose Vehicles and Funds in particular. In addition, Aengus leads the Grant Thornton Pensioneer Trustee Services team which manages Self -Administered Pension Schemes on behalf of clients.
His Financial Services Advisory experience includes:
- managing solvent winding down operations of financial services companies;
- creating restructuring strategies for manufacturing and retail companies;
- acting as receiver over property assets and corporate entities;
- acting as examiner and liquidator to various companies;
- corporate finance advisory and transaction services; and
- pensioneer trustee services to private clients.
